First Sight - An Encyclopedia of Photography,
Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland Ohio,
September 12, 2003-January 4, 2004.
First Sight- An Encyclopedia of Childhood began when I received several boxes of childhood artifacts including toys, books, drawings, clothing and my model railroad all carefully preserved by my mother. I had no idea these objects still existed. Slowly, as dispassionately as possible, I began examining and photographing each item as if it were a discovery from a recently unearthed archeological site. I organized the resulting pictures into a variety of photographic exhibitions and multimedia installations from roughly 1990-2004.
The photographs from First Sight, An Encyclopedia of Childhood, are now in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Track #3, 80"X 64," 1999 is also in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
